Before you market your site, make sure your web site is working first! Something simple such as spelling mistakes or broken links will turn your visitors away already. Following is a list of items you should take into considerations:

• Consistent design - Your web site content should be consistent with your branding and offline materials if you have any. The graphics should be web friendly. Formatting/design should be consistent across pages.
  
  
• Page load time - Your visitors may not have broadband connection. Some of them may be still using a 56k modem to get on the Net and a page with 200kB will take them 90 seconds to download! Do you think your users have patience to wait for a complete download of your page?
  
  
• Plugins and multimedia - Some developers like to use latest design technologies but they are either too big or require visitors to install additional programs.
  
  
• Site Navigation - Site visitors want to get some information from your sites, QUICK. Therefore, you have to provide some ways to let them navigate your sites quickly. Navigation menu, site map and in-site search engines are some good tools to allow your visitor to do so.

• A web site is just another media to help you to market your business and to communicate with your clients. It is similar to your company phone number. If your clients want to get some information, they can either call you or visit your web sites. The easiest way to promote your site is let your clients know about it. Just put your site URL to your business cards, your advertisements, and in the signature of your emails!
  
  
• It is estimated as much as 70% of all traffic to most web site comes through search engines. If you want to attract new visitors, you should optimize your sites and submit your sites to search engines.
  
  
• Even new visitors visited your sites, they will not spend much time if your web sites do not provide information they need. If your site content is fine, you have to find some ways to attract your visitors to come back. Permission based marketing can help you in this area. In your web sites, you asked your visitors whether you can send promotional materials to them and you periodically send materials (Emails, eNewsletters) to tell them latest updates. You can then build a long term relationship with your clients.
